A man stopped by police minutes after he was warned not to drive was fined and banned from the roads today.Anthony Davis, 51, from Devonshire, pleaded guilty to refusal to take a breath test in Magistrates’ Court.The court heard that police noticed Davis sitting on a bike on the side of Hamilton’s King Street about 5pm on February 16.They spoke to Davis and, after they noticed that his eyes were glazed, asked him if he had been drinking.Davis responded: “Yeah. I’m drunk.”The officers warned Davis not to ride and he promised to walk home.But — just five minutes later — the officers spotted Davis on the motorcycle on Happy Valley Road in Pembroke and pulled him over.Davis told the officers he was “just going home” and refused to take a breath test.Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe ordered Davis pay a $1,000 fine and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for 18 months.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
