Lord’s, St David’s (St David’s won toss): St David’s beat Cleveland by six wickets

St David’s, the league leaders, moved closer to the Logic Premier Division title with an easy victory over their Eastern Counties rivals who fielded only ten players.

A match that was delayed until 4pm, was reduced to a 20-overs contest with Cleveland County putting up a modest 79 for six.

St David’s replied with 82 for four with three overs of their innings remaining.

Steven Douglas Jr, who lost opening partner Adrian Burrows in the first over when Stefan Kelly, back for Cup Match, had him caught behind, led the Cleveland batting with 23 before he was fourth out on 52.

Dennis Musson, the Cleveland captain, was the next top scorer with 15 as Kelly, returning from England to play in Cup Match, claimed two for 11 off four overs.

Allan Douglas claimed two for eight off four while Rudell Pitcher had two for seven from two overs.

George O’Brien went for 25 runs in his four overs after coming on as third change.

St David’s, too, lost a wicket in the first over when Dion Stovell departed for a duck.

But a second-wicket stand of 46 between Ajuan Lamb and Chris Douglas took St David’s halfway to their target with Lamb scoring 26 and Douglas 18.

Allan Douglas was the next top scorer with 16 not out against his former team as Mackih McGowan claimed two for nine off four overs after taking the new ball.
