Richardson stars in first tour win

The Bermuda Cricket Board Development team have a win and a draw after two matches of their tour of England.

The National Academy youngsters lost the opening match of their tour of England by 19 runs to North Essex District on Wednesday, before bouncing back with a good win over Central Essex District at Hutton Cricket Club yesterday.

North Essex District posted 179 for seven in their 35 overs and restricted Bermuda to 160 all out in 31.3 overs. Dalin Richardson, the Bermuda captain, scored 81 not out to lead the Bermuda batting while Jarryd Richardson scored 17 and Tybrae Robinson 11.

Dalin Richardson had earlier claimed two for 11 off four overs, while Robinson took two for 34 in six overs. Leading the batting for North Essex was Dan Loveless with 66 runs while Ali Marion scored 44 and Boward Lucklin 36.

Dalin Richardson came good again with the bat yesterday, this time scoring 75 runs as the Bermuda team chased down the 149 for six posted by Central Essex in their 25 overs.

Bermuda replied with 151 for six off 22.2 overs with Dominique Sabir supporting Richardson with 44 runs.

Jamar Stovell was the pick of the academy bowlers with two for sixteen from three overs. Dalin Richardson, Tybrae Robinson and Marcus Scotland all picked up a wicket.

• Janeiro Tucker picked up another individual award after his fine all-round performance for Southampton Rangers last weekend against Western Stars landed him the Logic Premier Division Player of the Week award.

Tucker played a decisive role in a very close match which Rangers won by just 16 runs, scoring 64 and then taking four wickets for 39 runs.

Teenager Isaiah Greaves of St George’s is the Logic First Division Player of the Week after producing a match-winning spell of bowling against Flatts as St George’s won by just four runs. Greaves took five wickets for 14 runs in the winning cause.
