Leverock out for five

Opening the innings: Bermuda's Leverock

ICC Americas suffered an eight- wicket loss to Guyana Jaguars in the West Indies Cricket Regional Super50 at the Three Ws Oval in Barbados yesterday.

The Americas, looking to build on their victory over the Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners on Tuesday, posted 170 all out in 48.1 overs.

Guyana made quick work of their run chase, reaching their target in 1hr 57min off 28.1 overs after a century opening partnership.

Bermuda’s Kamau Leverock, who again opened the Americas innings, was bowled for five by Paul Wintz in the fifth over after facing 14 balls. He had already lost opening partner Akeem Dodson in the previous over.

The Americas recovered to 67 for three before losing three more wickets in the space of nine runs to be 76 for six after 22.4 overs.

Nikhil Dutta led the Americas batting with 38 from 77 balls.

Raymond Reifer took three for 15 and Devendra Bishoo three for 28 for Guyana.

Guyana never looked back after Assad Fudadin and Shimron Hetmyer put on 142 for the first wicket in 22.1 overs. Hetmyer scored 94 off 76 balls with ten fours and four sixes while Fudadin hit 54 off 66 balls with four fours and two sixes.

The Americas, bottom of group B, play their final group match against Jamaica Scorpions tomorrow.
