Flatts got their promotion bid back on track after handing Willow Cuts a 57-run defeat in a rain-hit One First Division match at Lord’s yesterday.

Kristof Von Tander blasted an unbeaten half-century and Nelson Bascome claimed four wickets in a match reduced to 37 overs because of rain.

South African Von Tander was the top scorer in Flatts’ total of 195 for five after being sent in to bat, with captain Kijuan Franks weighing in with 41 and Coefield Robinson 38.

Kwasi James and Shaquille Jones claimed two wickets each to lead the Cuts attack.

Cuts came up well short in their reply after being skittled out for 138 in 33.3 overs, with all-rounder Sheroy Fubler top scoring with 32 and captain Kamal Bashir and tail-ender batsman Antonio Darrell adding 22 apiece.

Experienced seamer Bascome took four for 13 while Cameron Smith and Regino Smith, who normally plays behind the stumps as wicketkeeper, accounted for the remaining Cuts wickets to fall.

Smith took three for 36 and Smith three for 10.

Elsewhere yesterday, PHC got back to winning ways after handing Warwick a four-wicket defeat in a rain-hit match reduced to 30 overs at Southampton Oval.

Cory Burgess laid the foundation for the visitors’ hard-fought victory by taking five wickets in the Warwick innings.

However, PHC made hard work of their run chase as they had to overcome a collapse before reaching their target with 7.3 overs to spare.

Warwick lost the toss and were sent to bat and were making good progress at 54 for two before third change Burgess was brought into the attack.

The seamer wreaked havoc with the ball as he ignited a slide in which four Warwick wickets tumbled in the space of six overs.

Burgess’s devastating spell yielded superb figures of five for 11, while experienced off spinner Del Hollis took two for 15 to keep the pressure on the batsmen.

Opener Shonari Boyles scored 30, Josi Butterfield 16 and Kyle Swan 15 before Warwick were dismissed for 101 in 25.4 overs.

PHC made a positive start to their reply before losing their first four wickets in the space of 30 runs through a combination of poor running between the stumps and shot selection.

The visitors eventually regained their footing and some heavy hitting by Robert Richardson in the middle order carried them to the brink of victory, which was achieved in the 23rd over when Warwick captain Stephan Dill sent down a wide to Kevin Lambe.

Early order bat Charles Trott, a reserve for St George’s in this year’s Cup Match at Wellington Oval, led the run chase with 27 while Richardson kept the scorers busy during a boundary filled 21.

Opener Jerez Eve and captain Hanuman made promising starts, scoring 18 and 14 higher in the order.

Cameron Jeffers, the Bermuda Under-19 off spinner, was the pick of the Warwick bowling with figures of three for 13.

Somerset Bridge had a bye.

All three Premier Division matches fell to the weather as Somerset, St John’s Field and Sea Breeze Oval were all unplayable because of heavy rain.
