ICC punishes Darrell for bat-throwing

Deunte Darrell has been banned for one match after throwing his bat and gloves in anger in the wake of his dismissal in Bermuda’s defeat by Namibia yesterday.Darrell was found guilty of a Level 2 offence in the ICC Code of Conduct and will miss the group A game against Scotland today.He was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that brings the game into disrepute”. In addition to the one suspension point, three demerit points have been added to Darrell’s record.The incident happened in the eighth over of Bermuda’s innings. After being adjudged leg-before, and when he was leaving the field, Darrell threw one of his batting gloves in the direction of the opposing team, hurled his bat at the advertising board and then threw his second glove in the direction of his own team in an aggressive manner.
