Woman dies after Vesey Street crash

A 70-year-old woman died yesterday at Vesey Street, Devonshire after being trapped under a car in a crash shortly after noon.

The woman, who will not be identified until next of kin have been contacted, was extricated by police and fire services, but subsequently pronounced dead in hospital.

The Roads Policing Unit appealed for any witnesses to contact 295-0011.

It came after Randolph Bulford, a 64-year-old minibus driver, was named by police as a man who died while driving on Monday.

Medical causes were cited in Mr Bulford’s death, according to a police spokesman, who said Mr Bulford lost consciousness at about 1pm on Somerset Road.

His vehicle subsequently rolled into a car, and he was pronounced dead in hospital later that day.

Another crash left a 27-year-old man with head injuries early on Christmas morning after a single vehicle crash on Mullet Bay Road, St George’s.

The man was found next to a motorcycle shortly after 3am on Tuesday, and he was later reported to be in serious condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, police yesterday said that a motorcycle rider had been arrested on Monday after driving an unregistered scrambler bike past officers on Middle Road, Warwick, and failing to stop.

After a chase up Khyber Pass and back onto Middle Road, the rider crashed near Manse Road, Paget, and an officer received a small cut after being shoved with his bike.

The rider was caught near Four Ways Inn after a chase.
