Eight road users were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving over the weekend, police said yesterday. The arrests came after police set up roadside breath-test checkpoints in seven parishes from Friday until Sunday.A police spokesman said: “Members of the public socialising at staff Christmas parties or festive events with family and friends are reminded to carefully consider their options to get home safely.“If you intend on consuming alcohol at get-togethers this holiday season, please do not make the mistake of driving whilst impaired. “Poor choices can have long- term ramifications.”No road sobriety checkpoints are scheduled for this weekend. The spokesman said: “Members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.”
