The Royal Gazette’s Drive for Change campaign has today launched a website dedicated to road safety in Bermuda.

driveforchange.rg.bm will be a source of breaking news for local traffic incidents, developments in roads legislation and reports related to the Drive for Change campaign.

The campaign has also launched a Facebook page and Twitter account to complement the website.

There are interviews with road safety experts as well as with those who have suffered tragedy on the roads.

A series of online maps, produced by Drive for Change and campaign partners A Piece of the Rock, pull together publicly available data about roads deaths over the past ten years.

One map pinpoints road fatalities by constituency with contact details for each MP and another is a memorial to the 118 people lost on the island’s roads over the past decade and gives crash details.

Another map displays an animated timeline highlighting fatalities.

The Be The Change section aims to provide an easy route for the public to join the movement for roads reform.

The Drive for Change campaign’s main objectives are the introduction of non-selective roadside breath testing, speed cameras and a graduated licensing programme.

The campaign also aims to be an educational resource and raise awareness of the issues surrounding road safety.

In the statistics section, users will find information on the research behind the campaign’s objectives as well as many other road related topics to help people make informed decisions and contribute to positive change on our roads.
