Police: ten arrests at road checkpoints

Ten motorists were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving over the Cup Match holiday weekend, according to a police spokesman.

Police conducted road sobriety checkpoints in eight parishes from Thursday evening to Sunday evening.

No checkpoints are scheduled for the coming weekend, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile a 38-year-old female rider hurt in a crash early on Wednesday was said to be in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

The single vehicle accident occurred shortly before 8am on the Causeway Bridge in St George’s near LF Wade International Airport.

Witnesses are asked to call the main police telephone number, 295-0011.
