A man was in intensive care unit tonight after he was run over by a car, police said.

The 45-year-old motorcyclist was thought to have slid out in front of the vehicle on Middle Road, near the junction with Seymour Farm Road, in Southampton.

The incident happened at about 7.50am yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “The injured rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and at last check had been admitted to the intensive care unit.

“The car driver, believed to be a 64-year-old Southampton man, was not hurt.”

Police have appealed for witnesses.
