Basketball pro Mykal Glasgow is to take his sporting talents abroad this autumn, having committed to play for Thomas College in Maine.

The sports prodigy, an honours student at the Berkeley Institute, plans to study accounting.

Three times a member of the Bermuda Youth National Team, Mr Glasgow was among the island’s top five to emerge from the National Basketball Association’s Jump Start talent search.

From that programme, he was chosen to compete in Trinidad against top players from around the Caribbean, where Mr Glasgow was ultimately ranked among the top 15.

He is an awarded veteran of basketball tournaments across the United States, and has trained at Five Star Camp and Point Guard College, as well as the Wolfpack Elite programme.

Mr Glasgow was captain of the Berkeley team and commended as Most Valuable Player.

He took Principal’s Honours upon graduation with the school’s third-highest grade point average, and has been awarded Thomas College’s cum laude scholarship.
