Students at TN Tatem Middle School will be temporarily relocated at Clearwater Middle School, beginning on Thursday, over safety concerns about air quality.

The Department of Education announced this evening that administrators would help both schools deal with logistical and student transportation.

It came after a ministry team met throughout today with stakeholders at the school.

“It is the ministry’s primary focus to minimise the disruption of our children’s education and provide an environment where learning and instruction is conducive for students and teachers,” a spokeswoman said.

TN Tatem Middle School will remain closed for a fourth day tomorrow owing to concerns about mould in the building.

The Parent Teacher Association executive met with the Ministry of Education this morning to reiterate their health and safety concerns and to request, for a second time, to have the children relocated so the entire building can be treated.

After the publication of a health and safety report last week, the Government had originally said the building posed no immediate threat and the students should continue to come in.
