Recently, the Minister of Public Works, Lt. Col. the Hon. David A. Burch, OBE (Mil), ED, JP, MP, met with senior waste management technical officers to discuss a number of matters regarding waste collection.

Some of the topics included the introduction and use of wheelie bins, implementing solutions regarding vermin and rodent issues, and continuing to encourage residents to put their trash out on the correct days.

Minister Burch said the discussions were “useful and purposeful”, and expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Waste Management team for collecting tons of residential waste each week across the Island, often under difficult circumstances.

As a reminder to the public, the Ministry released the 2019/2020 Garbage and Recycling Schedule earlier this month. Online copies can be obtained from the Government portal at www.gov.bm/garbage-and-recycling.

A key aim of the calendar is to assist residents in knowing their accurate collection dates for their refuse.

Lastly, the Ministry reminded the public that it recognises that there may be some occasions when there are delays in waste collection. In such instances, the public is encouraged to call the Marsh Folly Depot at 292-1517 or 292-7454.

For missed recycling collections email recycle@gov.bm or call 501-3043.
