More changes for Gosling’s Invitational

The Gosling’s Invitational has been altered for the second straight year.

Tournament organisers broke from tradition last year by staging the opening two rounds at Belmont Hills Golf Course and the remaining 36 holes at Port Royal Golf Course.

This year they have decided to play the first two rounds at Port Royal and the remaining rounds at Belmont Hills.

The 43rd Gosling’s Invitational will commence with an optional pro-am practice on November 27 at Port Royal, host of the PGA Grand Slam and renowned for its picturesque and world famous par-three 16th hole.

“The Gosling family is committed to hosting an elite international championship on the ‘Jewel of the Atlantic’, our native Bermuda,” Malcolm Gosling, president and CEO of Gosling’s International Limited, said.

“The beauty of the island and these courses — plus the warmth of our climate and our people — always help make this an unforgettable occasion for the fortunate participants.”

The 2017 Gosling’s Invitational runs from November 27 until December 1.

Those interested are encouraged to register early at www.goslingsrum.com/golf.

Amateurs who register before September 1 will receive a $50 discount.

Registration expires on November 1.

Gosling’s will again orchestrate several evening festivities for all participants, including a Welcome Party at Port Royal, a fun-filled party on the beach at Mickey’s Beach Bistro, a private rum tasting hosted by Malcolm Gosling, and a final night Awards Ceremony at Belmont Hills.

Former Canadian Tour and European Senior Tour player David Wettlaufer won last year’s tournament for the first time by three shots over multiple winner Kirk Hanefeld at Port Royal.

Daniel Augustus was the top local professional and 15th overall while compatriots Damian Palanyandi and Hav Trott won the amateur and senior titles convincingly.

Canadian professional Danny King fired a course and tournament record 12-under-par 58 in the opening round at Belmont Hills but was disqualified the next day after signing an incorrect scorecard.
