Bermudians seeking careers in public health are reminded they can apply for the Dr Barbara Ball Public Health Scholarship.

The Ministry of Health said applications will be received until the deadline at the end of April.

The scholarship was created to provide funding for Bermudians to pursue public health professions, and is available to persons both entering and/or seeking to upgrade corresponding academic qualifications.

The Ministry said it will financially assist Bermudians with a proven need and academic achievement, who are seeking careers or professional development in public health.

For eligibility and other information about the Dr Barbara Ball Public Health Scholarship, visit www.gov.bm.

Since the scholarship was founded in 2008, the Ministry of Health has financially assisted 48 Bermudians pursuing public health professions. Scholarships are offered for study in a wide range of healthcare professions, with ten new recipients awarded last year.

The scholarship was launched in April 2008 to recognise Barbara Bertha Ball, a Bermudian luminary in Bermuda’s labour movement and the medical profession. Dr Ball was the first born-Bermudian woman to practice medicine in Bermuda.

The scholarship is available to persons both entering and/or seeking to upgrade corresponding professional skills.
