Healthy school awards

The Healthy Schools Awards ceremony put on by the Department of Health at The Bermuda Society of Arts, City Hall, this week honoured schools which consistently promote health to its students and staff.

Schools targeted five specified categories of health in demonstrating a high level of health consciousness and compliance.

Both the Minister of Health The Hon. Kim N. Swan JP MP and the Minister of Education The Hon. Diallo Rabain JP MP were on hand for the ceremony.

A total of 26 of 31 public and private primary, middle, and senior schools submitted their Healthy Schools Component presentations and binders for review.

Health promoting schools received up to five GOLD STARS.

In addition, 47 individuals were nominated as Health Champions by their schools, while other health service workers were named as outstanding.
