Single positive test from Atlanta flight

A single case of Covid-19 was logged out of 1,211 test results for the illness that came back between Sunday and yesterday. The Ministry of Health said the case came in on the Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta last Monday. The returned resident had a clear test on arrival and was in quarantine until another test last Saturday — which was positive for the coronavirus. The passenger has remained in isolation since.Kim Wilson, the health minister, said contact tracing had started and that it was “a relief that this latest case had safely self-quarantined as required by our public health laws”.She added: “This responsible behaviour means that the spread of Covid-19 was successfully minimised.“This is a poignant reminder of why it is so important for residents who return from travel to quarantine appropriately if they have not obtained a pretest before boarding a flight back to Bermuda.”The island’s total confirmed positive cases now stands at 159, with nine deaths linked to Covid-19.Six active cases are being monitored by public health officials, but none of the infected people are in hospital. No cases are under investigation.Bermuda’s country status is at sporadic cases, and the seven-day average of the real-time reproduction number is less than 1.
