An historic property in Sandys is now on the market.

Cavello Hill was once home to Gladys Morrell, a founder of the Bermuda Woman Suffrage Society that campaigned for the island’s women to get the vote.

The two-bedroom house, at 36 East Shore Road, was built in the 18th century.

Kim Sheen Properties has it on the market for $995,000.

“Come and view one of the most quintessential properties in Sandys that offers so much amazing history,” the realtor said.

“Born in the mid-1700s, this most significant property is one of the first properties built in Sandys and was once home to a woman who changed history in Bermuda. This amazing property is ready for the buyer who wants a home with amazing character, ambience, glorious land, fabulous water views and privacy.”

The main house has a “fabulous, covered front porch, easy access drive-in drive-out driveway [and] an abundance of parking”. With it comes a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment.

The properties have water views of The Great Sound and sit on a .74-acre lot which neighbours a nature reserve.

Added Ms Sheen: “With some extensive work, this property could be a most remarkable piece of heaven fitting in well with the rest of the gorgeous homes that surround it.

“Possibilities are endless with this amazing property. Restoring it to its beautiful state and adding an incredible pool is just one of the many possibilities.”

Cavello Hill is within walking distance of ferry and bus routes and restaurants.
