Halting public transport was a thoughtless move

Out of service: buses and ferries were off this month as part of protests against proposed immigration reforms (Photograph by David Skinner)

Dear Sir,

My husband and I have been coming here for a month every March since 2001. The five-day transportation halt greatly inconvenienced our enjoyment of all Bermuda has to offer.

It was a very thoughtless move to express political opinions in a manner so hurtful to people who have no means of getting around, save for taxis and the kindness of others.

You can be sure that if this were my first visit to Bermuda, it would be my last. Fortunately, the many positive things Bermuda has to offer outweigh this negative happening, but I do hope that when future negotiations continue, they will realise how hurtful these actions are to all and never resort to such unfair practices again.

Additionally, it would be a helpful gesture if the validity of the transportation passes could be extended to compensate for the period of the work stoppage.
