Maternity ward staff provided exemplary care

Wonderful service: at the hospital’s maternity unit

Dear Sir,

My wife and I have lived in Bermuda for three years and before that we had lived in London and New York.

We share opinions about where there might be room for improvement in certain aspects of Bermuda’s customer service, but we were delighted to discover recently that there is at least one area where Bermuda offers a service to its residents that is truly world-class.

I am writing to express our very sincere appreciation for the way we were treated in the maternity unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital during the birth of our daughter last week.

To mention individual names wouldn’t be fair because every single member of the nursing staff looked after us beautifully from the moment we were admitted on Friday morning to our point of discharge on Monday. Without exception, they were kind, helpful, attentive and a pillar of strength for us in the topsy-turvy world of new parenthood.

The ward was unusually busy — I guess last year’s Cup Match holiday has a lot to answer for — but our impression was that all new parents received an equal amount of exemplary care.

It may not be as glamorous to some as a career in international business, but we are all human and there are times when nursing is utterly vital.

Once again, thank you to all the staff on the maternity ward at KEMH.

We intend to have all our future children there.
