Show must go on

Rain, blow or shine . . . the show must go on tonight at Somerset Cricket Club declared Santos tour organiser Clyde (Bunny) Best.

The former West Ham striker and Bermuda Football Association technical director confirmed yesterday that tonight's match will go ahead as scheduled, in spite of the inclement weather that continues to batter the Island's shores.

"We have to go ahead and play because Santos are due to leave the Island tomorrow," Best confirmed. "The show must go on and we can't even change the venue to the National Sports Centre; I wish we could but we have to keep to our promise (with Somerset Cricket Club) and we just have to go ahead.

"I was very impressed with those who turned up to Tuesday night's match and I think football loving fans really understand and enjoy football. And rain, blow or shine they are going to come out ? and those are die-hard fans who really love the sport.

"But I hope the weather does clear up a bit and fans can again come out and have a good time."

Reflecting upon Tuesday night's match at the West End, Best was quick to note how strong winds greatly affected the proceedings.

"Anybody that knows anything about football could see that the weather hampered a lot of the movement probably from both teams ? that's probably what really affected the game last night," Best added.
