Island Bargains changes name

New name: Island Bargains has been renamed Island Shippers

Shipping firm Island Bargains has a new name and a new overseas partner.

The company, now known as Island Shippers, has signed a deal with Florida-based Caicos Caribbean Lines.

Island Shippers, part of the Queen Group of companies, has also moved offices after their previous home on Front Street was gutted by a major fire.

Rod Petty, chief executive officer of Queen Group, said working with CCL would “reduce consolidation expenses and take advantage of technological improvements as the small package shipping business expands”.

He added: “Online shopping has increased significantly since 2013 and the demand for full-service small-package shipping has seen significant increases as well.

“Consumer choice, competitive pricing and the variety of goods available overseas are the fuel behind these increases.

“Historically, we offered small-package services and specialised shipping separately and these will now be continued by the new company.”

Mr Petty added that improved services would include customs procurement and ship and hold concierge and relocation services.

He added: “With the expansion of our Florida operation, we are able to reduce operational costs for individuals and businesses in Bermuda.

“The new Island Shippers will continue to offer less than container load, consolidation, transloading of cargo, inland trucking and special project-related shipping for large projects.”

Island Shippers is located at 6 Hermitage Road, Devonshire, with administration offices on the third floor of Cedar House, Cedar Avenue, Hamilton.

The new ship-to address for Island Shippers is the name of the customer, C/O Island Shippers Bermuda, Caicos Caribbean Lines, 9949 NW 89th Avenue, Unit 8, Medley, Florida, 33178.

The Queen Group includes Bermuda Executive Services, a recruitment, search and selection and business services company, Atlantic Caregiving, which provides home assistance, childcare and housekeeping services and Atlantic Media, a communications and marketing firm.
