As many Bermudians are becoming more environmentally conscious a mother and daughter decided to open a hair salon using only eco-friendly products.

Mother, Felicia Minors and daughter, Cedella Talbot, opened Salon Rouge, on Reid Street, Hamilton, next to the Red Carpet restaurant, in December last year.

Ms Minors said: “I always had a dream to open a family salon to leave it for the next generation.”

She has been a certified cosmetologist for 25 years, and Ms Talbot for eight years.

The pair believes in promoting healthy hair and they understand all hair types.

“We do anything from relaxed to natural hair, but all of our products are eco-friendly,” she said. “We use a range of products such as, bio silk, chi and farouk, which are all natural products.

“We have recently introduced a new smoothing system, that is completely environmental friendly and good for your hair — it’s called the American ChiEnviro smoothing treatment.

“This treatment has no chemicals, and leaves your hair feeling extremely smooth, it is one of the newest and natural smoothing treatments on the market.”

The pair not only promote healthy hair but they believe they create a family feel inside the salon as well.

“We make sure everyone that comes into the hair salon is comfortable. If you need to eat we have a staff room available, where you can have your breakfast or lunch.”

The salon also has a private room for people who do not feel comfortable in showing their hair because of religious beliefs, or who just want extra privacy.

“We want to make sure everyone feels at home at the salon. In the dryer room we show Netflix movies and clients have full access to free wi-fi,” Ms Minors said.

Ms Minors and her daughter have had an impressive career so far and had the opportunity to work on the hair of celebrities visiting the island, including Laila Ali, the former professional boxer, and Star Jones, the American lawyer, journalist, author and television personality.

The ladies also participated as hairdressers in the International Hair Show, where they were also involved in designs and fashion.
