Dwayne “Streaker” Adams, a former goalkeeper for the Bermuda national football team, has opened a Soca spin studio on St John’s Road.

Mr Adams’ passion for spinning came from managing the gym at Ace Ltd, the company today known as Chubb.

He realised the benefits of spinning and began working on his certification and then beginning to teach his own classes in the insurer’s wellness centre. Today Mr Adams has created his own studio — Streaker’s Spin Studio — solely dedicated to spinning.

The spin classes are designed to appeal to those at all levels, from beginners to advanced.

The classes are 50 minutes long and incorporate popular upbeat and classic soca music that keeps the participants engaged and excited to spin.

Destiny Thomas-Adams, daughter of Mr Adams and marketing co-ordinator said spinning was “a great form of exercise that allows individuals to be in control of their workout and at Streaker’s Spin Studio we encourage our clients to reach their full fitness potential every time they participate”.

The studio had a soft opening in July and the grand opening will be on November 18.

Ms Thomas-Adams said the studio does not yet have a full-time staff. Its instructors are Mr Adams, Gladwyn Edness and Roger Leverock, while Cindy Adams is an instructor in training, who will soon start teaching classes on her own.

“We are an official spin studio and listed on www.spinning.com as a premier studio in Bermuda,” Ms Thomas Adams added.

The studio is open seven days a week and offers private group classes ideal as office activities, team bonding exercises, and parties.

Spin classes cost $10 now, but after the grand opening the studio will offer $5 classes for those who want to try.
