A new pet supply retail store with animals for sale has opened in Pembroke.

Natasha Lambert launched Pet Stop, on Mill Creek Road, on Monday. The shop has a selection of animals such as local birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and turtles, ready for loving homes.

With only a handful of pet supply stores locally, Pet Stop hopes to establish a foothold in the market.

Ms Lambert’s passion for animals was the inspiration for opening the business.

“I have outsourced small animals such as hamsters and tropical fish. I chose to start a pet shop because I have a love for animals and I felt there was a need for an easily accessible, central, pet store on the island,” Ms Lambert said.

In addition to animals, Pet Stop supplies a variety of toys, beds, soaps, animal feed, cage and aquarium kits and more.

Ms Lambert says her prices are competitive.

“I am also currently working on more services, such as grooming and boarding which we will be starting in the near future,” she added.

Ms Lambert has hired three full-time employees to work the shop. She also has support from her family.

“My overall goal is to provide everyone with good prices, good services and offer care for animals,” she said.

Pet Stop’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
