All Things Sassy Boutique is going into its sixth year in business by expanding its services and offerings.

Gina Flood, owner of All Things Sassy Boutique, located in the Bermudiana Arcade on Queen Street, took a leap of faith five years ago by opening the shop, after becoming redundant.

She originally started off designing and making pet clothes and arranging grooming services for them.

“At first, I focused on pets, because you can make more outfits for dogs using less material,” Ms Flood said.

After finding her niche she branched off into designing doll fashions, selling fabrics and clothing alterations.

“I do a bit of everything here, we never turn anyone away if someone needs something that we can’t provide or a service that we do not do, we always will find someone who will,” she said.

“If anyone wants a cultural attire I can make them here, also we sell African head bands as well.”

A popular service she has added is matching doll and children’s clothing. “I can make the child and the doll have the same outfit, that will be a great Christmas gift for the holidays as well,” she added.

Ms Flood admits that the business has its slow seasons, but the clothing alterations is what sustains her. “Alterations have become my bread and butter, this is truly my passion and I love what I do.”

In previous years, the shop could not handle large jobs like wedding party alterations due to limited space, but a recent expansion means that now it can.

“We have revamped our cutting area, and have a bigger space for fitting, right now I am in the process of doing a few wedding parties,” Ms Flood said.

Ms Flood still continues to grow her business and admits that’s she is not where she wants to be right now but anticipates further expansion. “We are growing, I am buying more fabrics and eventually we will build a craft section,” she said.

“We eventually want to start teaching people how to make items for themselves which will be a cheaper option than me doing it for them.

“I also help a lot of parents with school projects where I take time out to work on what we can do together.”

Right now Ms Flood is the only full time worker but hired Jenny DeSilva, as a part-time sales associate/manager.

The store’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
