White facing next challenge in Spain

Learning curve: Dakari White will race in the competitive Spanish CEV Supersport Championship this weekend

Dakari White is determined to make the most of an opportunity to broaden his horizons competing on Spanish motorcycle racing’s biggest stage this weekend.

The Bermudian semi-professional motorcycle racer is set to make his debut on the formidable Spanish CEV Supersport Championship in Jerez in the Andalusia region, where he intends to soak up as much knowledge as possible and make further inroads towards his ambitions in the sport.

“My team [Team DR7] decided we will go to this meeting to give me more experience and accelerate my learning,” White said. “I believe I can handle this challenge and look forward to gaining valuable experience,” I’m very happy to receive this opportunity and be able to to learn and compete at this level.

“I race on the Spanish CIV Championship where the competition is a mix of entry-level riders and some semi-pro riders. But the Spanish CEV Supersport Championship will be more competitive.

“This championship has teams that also compete in the World Championship so the skill level is much higher so getting a result here will be much harder. It’s sort of a proving ground before making the step up to the world stage and is also the highest level championship in Spain.”

White has momentum going in having reached a milestone in his career after producing a maiden podium display on the Spanish CIV Championship circuit in Valencia last month.

He finished third in the 600cc open class competing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo just days before his 25th birthday.

“The podium has definitely brought a boost of confidence and has encouraged me to stay on the path that I’m on,” White said.

“This podium was a result of hard work and dedication. I’m very dedicated to this sport and have a very good team supporting me.”

White hopes to finish at least among the top 20 in what will be his final race of the season.

“I’m hoping for a good result to end the season well,” he said.

“My expectations are to challenge for a top 20 and if I can finish in the top 15 and score some points, I would be really happy.”
