New musical show seeks performers

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society performing The Pirates of Penzance in 2014

Auditions will be held next month (May 27 to 29) for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s autumn production The Magic of the Musicals.

The show, which comes to City Hall’s Earl Cameron Theatre from October 6 to 15, will feature a host of tunes from the West End and Broadway stage.

Expect to hear classic songs from shows including Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Mamma Mia and Into the Woods, as well as medleys from Gilbert and Sullivan, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

John Barnett, president of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s executive committee, said: “For more than 40 years, the society has brought a wide range of hit musicals to the stage in Bermuda.

“This year, we wanted to showcase not only some of our most memorable past productions, but give the audience a sneak peek of what’s to come, all while highlighting some of the best local talent.”

Producers are looking for an adult cast, as well as talented youngsters over eight years old.
