‘Significant concerns’ over Lowe death

Crash at Horshoe Road and Palm Valley (Photograph supplied)

Police have acknowledged concerns in the community that unusual circumstances may have led up to the road accident that claimed the life of Travis Lowe.

Mr Lowe, 23, was seriously injured on July 26 when his motorcycle collided with an oncoming van at the junction of Horseshoe Road and Palm Valley, Southampton.

Sources in the community have suggested that he may have been trying to evade pursuers at the time of the crash.

After remaining in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, Mr Lowe was yesterday declared dead. His passing marked the island’s ninth road fatality of the year.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines told The Royal Gazette: “There have been significant concerns expressed by members of the community surrounding the circumstances leading up to the death of Travis Lowe.

“The Bermuda Police Service has launched an investigation, to go through all of the evidence, with the view to ascertaining what transpired.

“We are appealing for anyone who has any information or who may have seen anything to contact Acting Inspector Jason Smith at 295-0011.

“Another viable option is the confidential Crimestoppers hotline, 800-8477.”
