Westbound motorists travelling out of Hamilton city this evening are encouraged to use Middle Road or South Road and avoid Harbour Road to lessen congestion as eastbound traffic continues to be diverted from Middle Road on to Harbour Road via Chapel Road. Traffic is being diverted due to a downed utility pole at the junction with Ord Road.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident. However, motorists intending to travel to the east or west end of the island via Middle Road, Paget are advised to take alternate routes until further notice.

BELCO is on scene dealing with the downed pole. Eastbound traffic is being diverted at the junction of Middle Road and Chapel Road with the exception of buses and large vehicles. Westbound traffic along Middle Road can now proceed as normal.
