Woman, 84, seriously hurt in car crash

An 84-year-old woman is in the Intensive Care Unit after she and her 90-year-old passenger were injured in a car crash on Thursday night.

The woman, from Paget, was driving a car that struck a utility pole on South Road, Devonshire, near the junction with Melville Crescent. The vehicle then collided with another car being driven in the opposite direction.

According to police, the woman was yesterday morning in a stable condition in the ICU at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The man, also from Paget, was in a stable condition on a general ward.

A 39-year-old Sandys man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving in connection with the incident. Both vehicles were damaged.
