South Road crash update

A 53-year-old Warwick man and a 38-year-old Devonshire man were injured in the accident on South Road on Friday.

According to a policeman, the two motorcyclists were riding in opposite directions when they collided near the junction with Honey Hill in Paget at about 6.50pm.

“Both were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment,” he said.

“Apparently one of the individuals involved, a 52-year-old Warwick man, sustained a fractured finger and lacerations to his ankle while the other, believed to be a 38-year-old Devonshire man, was said to have sustained abrasions to his face and hands.

“However, information suggests that the younger rider declined further medical care at the hospital.”

The road was closed for about two hours after the collision. Inquiries continue and witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.
