For the tenth consecutive year, Regina Peniston has come out to Court Street to deliver a hot meal to those struggling this holiday season.

Ms Peniston this afternoon continued her tradition of giving back, working with a team of volunteers to give away food at tents set up near the Jamaican Grill on Court Street.

Speaking at around 4pm today, she said that the turnout had been healthy.

“Things have been great,” she said. “We have had a few rushes. We have probably had more than 60 people come by so far. We will be here until the food goes. We will stay here.

“It feels great. It makes me happy to help these people out here who are hungry. We also have people taking food out to Front Street and different areas because some people won’t come here.”

She said the reaction to the event has been universally positive, saying that those who have come by are happy to see them.

Ms Peniston also noted the men and women who volunteered their time to make the event a success, saying: “We have had about 25 or 30 people who have helped out. It’s not just the food, but there were also people who helped us set up.”

Asked if she intends to continue the event next year, she said: “That’s the plan. Next year will be bigger and better.”
