Film festival to go ahead

The Bermuda International Film Festival takes place from May 1 to 7 at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall

Not everybody liked the change — but the show goes on for the Bermuda International Film Festival.

The independent festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary from May 1 to 7 in 2017 at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall, is under new management, after losing members who clashed with trustees over a reorganisation.

Patrice Horner of the BIFF purpose trust said: “We had taken some time recently to update our long-term plan and restructure our operations.

“We are looking to build on our local support and resume an international draw for the future.”

Details will be released in the new year on the festival’s new directions, Ms Horner said, urging fans to set aside May as BIFF has traditionally screened in March.

Formerly housed at the Liberty Theatre, BIFF made Earl Cameron Theatre its new home last year.
