Dutton Avenue in Pembroke will be closed between Marsh Folly and North Street due to fireworks festivities on New Year’s Eve.

The road closure will start at 4pm tomorrow and remain in place until the fireworks have concluded, the Ministry of Public Works advised today. No access will be permitted to Bernard Park during that time.

Queries should be directed to chief engineer Bob Lorties on 297-7863.

Meanwhile several roads in North Hamilton are set to be temporarily closed tomorrow as preparations begin for the Uptown New Year’s Eve Celebration.

Staring at 6am, Court Street will be closed to traffic between Angle Street and Ewing Street.

Further road closures are set to take effect as of 4pm, including Court Street between Victoria Street and Ewing Street, Elliot Street from Princess Street to Union Street, Angle Street from Princess Street to Union Street and Dundonald Street from Princess Street to Union Street.

All of the roads are set to be reopened for traffic by 6am on Sunday.

Parking will also be affected in the area, with no parking allowed on Court Street between Angle Street and Ewing Street as of 6am, and sections of Court Street, Dundonald Street, Elliot Street and Angle Street being closed to parking as of 4pm.

A spokeswoman for the Corporation of Hamilton said: “The Ministry of Works will be assisting in the closure and reopening of the roads.

“In addition, the Bermuda Police Service is hereby authorised to “close off” street or portions of streets, direct traffic and restrict and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.

“We apologise for the late notification and any inconvenience it may create for the motoring public.”
