A pirate-themed fundraiser scheduled for this weekend has been postponed, organisers have announced.

The Pirates of Bermuda event, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed one week due to anticipated weather, the Bermuda Sloop Foundation said today.

“We made the decision to postpone until next Sunday due to the weather forecast,” an e-mail sent to event participants said.

“While we are all about character development and facing challenges, this is meant to be fun for you as well as the spectators.”

Members of the public are invited to attend the #1 Car Park in Hamilton on Sunday, March 12, to watch the “hostages” walk the plank. A bouncy castle and facepainting will be available for younger event attendees, and the America’s Cup Endeavour programme grinder challenge will be on offer for older visitors.

The event runs for 2pm to 4.30pm.
