The International Women’s Club of Bermuda will be hosting its fifth annual charity art auction tomorrow, with proceeds set to go to Big Brother Big Sisters and the Coalition for the Protection of Children.

About 24 of the more than 100 works of art to be featured in this year’s Bermuda Art Exhibition will be up for auction as well an opportunity to bid for a portrait sitting with St George’s artist Emma Ingham.

America’s Cup inspired art will also be available, along with an installation of clay birdhouses painted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda mentors and their “Littles” at an IWC workshop at Masterworks.

“The event prides itself in being an affordable arts fair and is a good opportunity to acquire art for a good cause with prices ranging from $50 to $15,000,” the IWC said in a statement.

“It started as a celebration of International Women’s Day and in its fifth year has grown to an exhibition of over 100 works of art and photography which will be available for sale and auction with all profits going to the two beneficiary charities, Big Brother Big Sisters and the Coalition for the Protection of Children.

“This year’s exhibitors include photorealistic paintings by the well known wildlife painter Michael Jackson — a rare opportunity to see and acquire such works in Bermuda.”

Artworks created by members of the IWC will also be on offer, along with a handmade cedar postbox, framed signed America’s Cup team shirts from Team Oracle USA, Landrover BAR and Softball Team Japan, pink sand jewellery, and a real Bermuda tree.

The event — the brainchild of the IWC’s 2012 philanthropy chair Gillian Kersse — raised more than $12,000 last year in support of Windreach and Scars.

The auction at The Gallery in the Chubb building will take place during the gala night, which starts at 5.30pm. The exhibition will run from March 13 to 24 Monday to Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
