Scholarships and awards deadline extended

The Ministry of Education's scholarship and awards application deadline has been extended to April 16.

The deadline for the Ministry of Education’s scholarship and award opportunities has been extended to April 16.

New scholarships and awards are as follows:

• Minister’s Achievement Scholarship for graduating public school students pursuing overseas postsecondary study (scholarship value is $25,000).

• Minister’s Merit Scholarship for graduating senior school students pursuing overseas postsecondary study. Must demonstrate financial need (scholarship value of $25,000).

• Minister’s Technical and Vocational Award for graduating public school students or recent public school alumni (aged 25 or younger on 1 September, 2017) attending Bermuda College pursuing local or overseas postsecondary study. Must have a strong interest in technical and vocational studies and demonstrate financial need. (Award value is $5,000 for local and $25,000 for overseas study).

• Minister’s Exceptional Student Award for graduating students or school leavers with disabilities pursuing local or overseas postsecondary study. Must demonstrate financial need. (Award value is $5,000 for local and $25,000 for overseas study).

Existing scholarships and awards are:

• Bermuda Government Scholarship for graduating senior school students or current college or university students (aged 16-25 on August 1, 2017) pursuing postsecondary education. (Scholarship value is up to $35,000 towards the cost of tuition and basic accommodation).

• Teacher Training Award for current college or university students with sophomore standing for study of selected subjects and/or areas of teaching need in the Bermuda Public School System. Must demonstrate financial need. (Award value is $20,000).

• Mature Student Award for mature (aged 35 or older) college or university students with sophomore standing pursuing continued postsecondary study. Must demonstrate financial need. (Award value is $20,000).

• Further Education Award for current college or university students with sophomore standing pursuing continued postsecondary study. Must demonstrate financial need. (Award value is $10,000).

Completed applications must be submitted by April 16, 2017.
