Ag Show organisers have hailed the success of another exhibition that attracted tens of thousands of residents — both young and old — from across the island.

They praised the tireless work of the many volunteers and the contributions of several corporate sponsors that ensured the Botanical Gardens became a hive of activity for three days.

The Ag Show Limited, which now runs the event as part of a public-private partnership, is already turning its attention to next year and planning on making further improvements.

“All in all this was an extremely successful show,” David Lopes, the Ag Show Ltd’s chairman, said. “We did have a few glitches along the way and we’ll work on them to make sure they don’t happen again next year.

“We don’t have the exact numbers yet, but it certainly appeared to be well attended, with around 25,000 people coming down.

“There’s a few things we’ll look to improve for next year; we need to put a bit more excitement back into the main ring and we’ll be looking at that. For me the whole event shows that more people want to be together than apart.”
