News of planned road repairs taking place outside the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club this weekend came as a surprise, the general manager of the hotel says.

Allan Federer said that details on the work — announced yesterday afternoon — were not previously provided.

The work on Pitts Bay Road will result in alternating one-lane closures between the entrance to the hotel and Bermudiana Road.

“The works are set to commence at 7.30am and will continue until 7pm on both days,” the Ministry of Public Works said.

“The road paving work is necessary to reinstate the road surface to a good condition.”

Motorists were advised to take alternate routes.

Mr Federer said the hotel is at full occupancy this weekend.

“We’re pretty much fully booked until July,” he said.

Mr Federer said that the hotel would ensure that staff members were prepared.

“We want to take the right steps to make sure that everyone has a great weekend,” he said.

The works are weather dependent, the Ministry said.
