Stats serve as a road safety reminder

The Bermuda Hospitals Board has issued statistics on road traffic incidents as a reminder to the public to stay safe on the roads as the public holiday weekend approaches.

The stats show that some 622 road victims required the Emergency Department at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital from January to the end May as a result of road traffic incidents.

In the same period, 52 victims were admitted to the Acute Care Wing, nine were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and three victims aged 18 or under were admitted to the hospital.

Figures were also released for May alone showing that 165 victims attended the Emergency Department at KEMH and the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre; two victims were admitted to ICU and 15 victims were admitted to hospital acute wards.
