Love, plastic and polling at Pecha Kucha

The languages of love, the use of plastic and dangerous driving will all be tackled at the nineteenth edition of Pecha Kucha.

The quarterly event, which is being held today at the Warwick Workmen’s Club, will bring together a host of speakers to discuss a wide range of topics and creative ideas.

According to organisers, the presentations will be using “20x20” format, in which 20 images are projected on screen for 20 seconds each, ensuring that presentations move quickly.

Eight presenters are taking part, including Tiffany Paynter, who will discuss the concept of the five love languages, and Alba Fernandez, who will discuss her journey to live a plastic-free lifestyle.

They will be joined by Stuart Kriendler, highlighting his experience in the local renewable energy industry; David O’Shea who will reveal what he has learnt in Bermuda; and Alex Conyers, who will talk about a new theory he has called “Compu Personal Syndrome”.

Stratton Hatfield intends to introduce a revolutionary website highlighting the power of people and authenticated polling, while Manish Thareja and Agam Jain will present their documentary A Piece of the Rock. A spokesman said: “Pecha Kucha events involve a variety of people presenting their out-of-the-box creative ideas on any topic of their choice for everyone to enjoy, think about, laugh at and, maybe, be inspired by.

“The event is free and open to the public while donations are accepted to give back to the hosting club and buy drinks for the presenters. There will be food for sale in addition to drinks from the bar.”

The event begins at 6.30pm.

Anyone interested in putting forward a presentation for the September Pecha Kucha is invited to contact Alba Fernandez at albaytal@hotmail.com.
