Police have identified the man who died after being pulled from the waters at Horseshoe Bay last week.

Frank D’Angelo, 69, was apparently snorkelling in a cove at the beach when he lost consciousness on Thursday at around 2.15pm.

Mr D’Angelo, from California, was brought to shore by members of the public who proceeded to provide CPR.

Life-saving efforts continued as he was rushed to hospital, however he was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the deceased’s family and although foul play is not suspected, an autopsy is anticipated,” police said in a release.
