McKenzie lands 100lb rockfish

Local knowledge: Livingston McKenzie landed a giant rockfish outside the mouth of Devonshire Bay

Livingston McKenzie tirelessly fishes at his favourite spot just outside the mouth of Devonshire Bay and his patience paid off just before Cup Match with a prize catch: a rockfish weighing more than 100lbs.

Most visitors to the South Shore inlet prefer to cast their lines from the rocks on the west side of the bay.

But Mr McKenzie swears by a section around the eastern shore, sometimes waiting late into the night for his catch.

The rockfish, or black grouper, is one of the island’s top-shelf catches, and an apex predator on Bermuda’s reefs.
