Road repaving on Church Street is expected to last through next week.

Ian Hind, senior engineer with the City of Hamilton, said that the work — between Par-la-Ville Road and Queen Street — was being done because the road surface was worn, cracked and had trench scars.

“We will complete the eastbound lane by end of Thursday and reopen that lane early Saturday morning,” he said.

“On Sunday, we will mill and asphalt the westbound lane between the entrance to and the exit from Par-la-Ville car park.”

Beginning Monday, the two remaining sections of the westbound lane from Queen Street to Par-la-Ville Road will be addressed, Mr Hind said. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Work to repair similar road damage on Wesley Street has now been completed. It is expected to reopen Saturday morning, Mr Hind said.

Police advised motorists to find alternate routes while the works are being completed.
