An interfaith meeting to discuss violence in the community is to be held tomorrow, led by Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security.

Mr Caines had previously announced plans to meet with members of the religious community as part of a holistic approach to the issue.

A spokeswoman for the ministry said: “At tomorrow’s meeting, Mr Caines will have in-depth, solutions-based discussions with clergy leaders about ways to reduce violence, as well as put in place relevant support systems for Bermuda’s at-risk population.”

Mr Caines himself said that part of the goal of the meeting is to have open and collaborative dialogue about how to address the root causes of violence and antisocial behaviour.

“Our hope is to work in partnership to tackle multi-generational unaddressed trauma,” he said.

“And among the results we are seeking to achieve is being able to identify tangible, meaningful and long-term solutions to the issues we face as a community.”

The meeting will be held at the Heritage Worship Centre between 6pm and 7.30pm.
