Elevators at care facility repaired

The Sylvia Richardson Care Facility in St George’s

Two elevators have been repaired at the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility after reports last year of residents being confined to one floor.

A team of four from Otis Bermuda repaired and replaced the controls, wiring and motor controls of the elevators.

Before the repairs, some residents had to be moved from the top floor so that staff were better able to help them move around the St George’s home.

To ensure as little disruption to the residents as possible, the elevators were worked on one at a time, with one always in use.

John Morran, general manager at Otis, said: “We are delighted to have repaired the elevator problems at the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility for its residents and staff and we look forward to continuing to provide them with excellent service.”

The Sylvia Richardson Care Facility has 43 residents and provides residential, nursing and daycare to seniors on the island.
