Monthly pension payments this week will be paid early due to the threat from Hurricane Jose.

Benefits paid via direct deposit will be available today, at HSBC at noon, and at BNTB at 9am. Pension cheques will be delivered by mail tomorrow.

The Department of Social Insurance said it was a precautionary measure to bring forward pension benefit payments from Friday.

David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, said: “I wish to extend my thanks to the relevant government departments in their proactive approach to this matter.

“While the potential threat of Hurricane Jose is diminishing, the Government places importance on ensuring that our seniors are able to access their payments early to allow for any necessary storm preparations.”

Anyone with questions should call the Department of Social Insurance on 294-9242.
