Ten collisions were reported on island roads this weekend, down from the 21 the weekend before.

Eight people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and seven failed breath tests.

The Bermuda Police Service said officers would continue their “highly visible” presence on the roads.

The BPS added: “We are asking the motoring public to slow down — do not drink and drive — and to make smart decisions while on the roads.”

Police said that a 16-year-old girl injured in a motorcycle crash on South Road in Paget on December 1 had been discharged from hospital after nearly a week in the intensive care unit.
